Recently a colleague brought along a new 500 GB Iomega external hard drive. He requested my assistance if possible if I could copy some downloaded TV Series into it in the likes of 24 Seasons 1 to 8, Burn Notice, Sons of Anarchy (am a fan of this). I plugged the Iomega external drive on my Windows XP laptop and windows was able to detect the driver of the external drive. I clicked on My Computer to locate the newly plugged external drive but it's not there. The external drive wont show up on the list of drives.
For troubleshooting purposes I got my netbook with ubuntu 9.10 remix then plug the external drive and it was being detected. Tried copying files onto and it's working just fine. So my first guess was the Iomega hard drive works just fine except that it's not being detected by windows for some reason. So for the hard drive to be able to be detected on windows I formatted the drive using GParted so that all the factory default settings on the external drive will be wiped out. The drive can now be detected on windows.
